On September 11, 2001, an Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda carried out a suicide attack by crashing the planes into the World Trade Center Towers in New York. 19 men hijacked four fuel-loaded U.S. airline two hit the twin towers in New York and the other two hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and a field in. 9/11 attacks have caused significant amount deaths and destruction but is also symbolic for bringing fear and the idea of terrorism to US.
The leader of this terrorist attack was Osama bin Laden who is also the leader of al Qaeda. They have attacked these places because the twin towers were the symbol of America’s power and influence and the Pentagon was the headquarters of the US Department of Defense. Not only the 9/11 attack, they were also implicated in series of attacks such as the shooting down of two American Black Hawk helicopters in Somalia, a bombing at a military housing complex in Saudi Arabia and the bombing of US embassies in Dar Es Salaam and Nairobi.
The damage caused by such attacks were horrifying. For the 9/11 terror, 2,753 people were killed at the World Trade Center: 343 New York City firefighters, 23 of New York City police officers and 37 others killed due to the towers’ collapse.
The 11th of September in 2001 was peaceful day before 19 hecklers have ruined more than 3000 people’s lives not giving considerable thought about the consequences. Terror gives us horror, destruction and more problems, which should not happen in the first place. Therefore, terror is still a battle we have to fight to end innocent deaths.
